Generic Nexium Esomeprazole Pill for Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease Part 1
Introduction
Generic Generic Nexium is a medicine with the active component of Esomeprazole, which is the S-isomer of omeprazole, which combines the S- and R- isomers. The drug is offered in the form of capsule or tablets or a powder in different strengths. It is also called as "the purple pill" since it is a purple capsule having two or three gold rings, based on the potency.
Drug Indications
Generic Generic Nexium is approved for the treatment of gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), erosive esophagitis, Helicobacter pylori (H. pylori) infections and pathological hypersecretory conditions, where there is excess stomach acid. This medicine also prevents stomach ulcers in patients using nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory medicines (NSAIDs), for example ibuprofen.
Drug Contraindications
Generic Nexium should not be administered to patients with known hypersensitivity to any constituent of the formulation or to alternative benzimidazoles.
Dosage
GERD and Erosive Esophagitis
Take the drug once a day, at least one hour before a meal.
For patients having gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) symptoms, a 20 mg of Nexium has been approved once a day for four to eight weeks. If it is severe enough which may lead to esophageal erosions, the usual dose is 20 to 40 mg once daily for four to eight weeks. The dose should be followed by 20 mg once daily.
